Nordic Folk Academy
Nordic Folk Academy is a meeting place for adult educators and functions as a course and development centre for Nordic and international popular and adult education. It was established in 1968. The aim of the NFA is to foster and develop co-operation among adult educators in the Nordic countries as well as between the Nordic countries and the adjacent areas, and also between the Nordic and other European countries. Lecturers, course leaders and project leaders come from Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Latvia. All NFA courses are open to those who are interested, besides NFA makes also tailor-made education taking into account the wishes and needs of special target groups. The activities of NFA take their point of departure in
* adult pedagogy based on the philosophy of socio-cultural education
* dialogue between non-formal and formal adult education
* dialogue between adult education and the labour market
* lifelong learning in relation to competence development, information technology, entrepreneurship, and active citizenship
* Nordic cooperation based on common history, culture and democratic understanding in dialogue with voluntary, non-governmental organisations
* international involvement for exchange of information and good practice in adult learning
