About the webinar

Pathways to Prosperity: Turning Around the Global Economy

The planet has a fever and we see the symptoms everywhere – from climate change to biodiversity loss, the growing gulf between rich and poor, and a generalised lack of meaning leading to record levels of depression and suicide.
In response, a growing number of people and communities are actively seeking to identify new pathways to prosperity, to intervene in the system and turn around the health of the global economic system.  This conversation between Ross Jackson and Jonathan Dawson will explore where some of these critical leverage points might be located and sketch some potential pathways back to sanity, within ecological limits.
In this webinar, Naresh Giangrande will talk to Ross Jackson and Jonathan Dawson, seeking to use their gifts as systems thinkers to identify and articulate key leverage points in the system where some skilful pressure may serve to change its character.
The conversation will look at reform of the economic system by exploring some of the following topics:

  • Open source innovation
  • The transition from a centralised to a distributed system
  • The ‘breakaway strategy’ from Occupy World Street
  • How can we reform the financial system?
  • Are small relocalised economies reforming or replacing large scale globalised systems?

Brought to you by Gaia Education and Schumacher College.
